The Centre for Governance Studies, USA (CGS USA) is an independent, nonpartisan nonprofit organization incorporated in the District of Columbia. Based in Washington, DC, we conduct and share research, run education and training programs, and organize dialogue that supports informed public debate.
Our work covers democracy, development, security, governance, media, and human rights, with a particular focus on the relationship between the United States and South Asia. We bring together scholars, policymakers, practitioners, journalists, students, and communities, including the Bengali diaspora in the United States, around shared public policy questions. informed public debate.

CGS USA offers a Washington-based platform for research and dialogue on these relationships and what they mean for public policy and society.
The organization also opens space for the Bengali diaspora to take part in that conversation. Its professional experience, community networks, and cross-border perspective can strengthen public discussion and the ties between the United States and Bangladesh.

Geographic Focus
CGS USA follows one connected geography: the United States,
Bangladesh, the wider South Asian region, the Indo-Pacific,
and the Bengali diaspora that links them.
CGS USA studies the political, economic, and strategic relationships that connect the United States with the countries of South Asia, and creates opportunities for informed exchange among scholars, policymakers, and practitioners on both sides.
Bangladesh is a central focus of our work on democracy, governance, development, security, and regional cooperation. We aim to strengthen policy, academic, and civic ties between the United States and Bangladesh, including sustained engagement with institutions and communities in Dhaka.
The Indo-Pacific has become a central arena for trade, connectivity, technology, and strategic competition. CGS USA contributes research and dialogue on how these developments affect the United States, South Asia, and the wider region.
The Bay of Bengal connects South and Southeast Asia and is growing in importance for trade, energy, maritime security, and climate resilience. We study the Bay as a shared space, attentive to both national interests and opportunities for cooperation.
The Bengali diaspora contributes to American life through education, research, business, medicine, media, and community leadership. CGS USA works to connect that experience with policy discussion and stronger ties between the United States and Bangladesh.
