Corrections Policy

CGS USA is committed to accuracy. We review credible reports of error and correct substantive mistakes clearly and promptly. We do not remove accurate material merely because it is disputed, unfavorable, or has become inconvenient.

How corrections work

  1. Submit the page or publication title, URL, disputed text, explanation, and supporting source through the Corrections contact category.
  2. An editor acknowledges and assesses the request, consulting the author, research lead, or subject expert when needed.
  3. If a substantive correction is warranted, the page is updated and a dated note explains what changed. Material downloadable files are replaced or versioned consistently.
  4. If no correction is made, CGS USA may explain the basis for the decision when appropriate.
Five kinds of change

Types of update

Correction

A factual or material presentation error is fixed.

Clarification

Accurate wording is revised because it could reasonably mislead.

Update

New information is added after publication without implying the earlier version was wrong.

Editor’s note

Important context about process, dispute, or provenance is added.

Retraction or withdrawal

Reserved for work that is fundamentally unreliable, unlawful to retain, or unsafe to publish, with an explanation where possible.

Request a correction

Include the URL, the disputed text, and your supporting source so an editor can assess it quickly.
